I was disappointed when this crucial backstory now feels like a half baked episode where Mary (don't get me wrong- I love her!) orders pizza and Luke is still a total background character. This episode, to me, should have meant more.

It's unfortunate that Batwoman has chosen to trade in the awful trope of associating facial disfigurement with villainy. For a show that's going out of it's way to get things right for a number of marginalized groups... I expect better.

Even though this episode ended up being almost entirely expository, it also managed to be a showcase for the two best performers so far.

This week's episode was dark and full of flashbacks, making it extremely reminiscent of early Arrow. It also made for one of the better episodes we've seen, and the emotional connections between the characters drove the plot forward.
