SyFy's Alphas might have been a reasonable excuse for summer entertainment five years ago but we've seen too many shows like it in the last few to give this disappointment a pass.

It's a light, entertaining and mostly well-acted show that could develop a fascinating mythology or end up just spinning its wheels.

Each character possesses his own set of personal struggles and flaws, as well as a deep back story, and each brings a unique dynamic to the group, which will make Alphas one of the best summer shows, not just on Syfy, but on television.
