The story of a young woman named Aung San Suki, the daughter of the Burmese general, is telling the story about her democratic movement in Burma. That story began when her father died in that war, then returned to her homeland to carry out a democratic movement in Burma, as well as talking about her relationship with her husband, writer Michael Ares, which seems to be a controversial relationship.

The dramatic moments are few and far between, and the film seems like it walks in the footsteps of Richard Attenborough's Gandhi at times. Besson definitely tries to present Suu Kyi in a similarly reverent light.
