Indian Horse

Description
Saul Indian Horse is a seven-year-old boy who moved with his family to the city of Ojibwei. He joined an infamous Catholic school known for suppressing freedoms and persecution. There, he received all kinds of persecution, denying him freedom of expression in his own language or talking about his original heritage. He suffered much verbal and physical abuse but he broke all the barriers and went to undesirable places and places of entertainment in Canada to escape from repression.

... the film does have its moments. But there's no doubt in my mind that the story would be better served at miniseries length.

If a film like this can help cast off people's racist assumptions about Indigenous life in Canada, then that is still a public good worth commending.
